Like its older brother, Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis is a stunning wine this year with a glossy, deep purple colour and an incredibly juicy nose which leaps out of the glass. On the palate the savoury, spicy, peppery notes almost take a front seat to the fruit but as the wine glides over the palate there are beautiful, compact, ripe fruit flavours. On the finish the wine is concentrated without losing the freshness. Made from a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. As always this is an excellent second wine.
